Kimba Hospital and Elmhaven Senior Citizens Home in Streaky Bay have enacted the Essential Visitor Program as a number of residents at each location have tested positive for COVID-19.
Residents that tested positive are being cared for in isolation, with all staff wearing personal protective equipment and all residents being tested regularly.
The Eyre and Far North Local Health Network are encouraging family and friends to reach out and support residents via phone calls and FaceTime’s.
This comes as federal health authorities call for residents on the EP to protect themselves against COVID-19 and the flu, as recent figures reveal around 100,000 influenza cases have been reported across the country this year.
