A $400,000 investment is securing the future of automotive apprenticeships on the Eyre Peninsula.

The state government’s investment in the Motor Trade Association’s Cleve Training Centre means more young people can learn and work locally without needing to travel to Adelaide.

As skilled worker shortages continue, MTA CEO Darrell Jacobs says this will help EP businesses employ the next generation of workers.

MTA’s Kaes Cillessen says the Eyre Peninsula is the heart of agriculture and heavy vehicle machinery in South Australia, and the funding provides an incredible opportunity for growth in this space.

“The Eyre Peninsula will be at the heart of the latest automotive technology and opportunity, Mr Cillessen says.

“Thanks to the state government funding through the Skill Centre Pilot Program, the MTA will be able to offer additional apprenticeships and expand our scope of training by making the facility a full-time operation.”
