A new government-backed initiative is helping and inspiring women on the Eyre Peninsula to develop their own business.

New research has shown nearly two-thirds of women in their 40s and 50s are bursting with ideas, but financial concerns and a fear of failure are holding them back.

A program called ‘Enterprising Me’ aims to change that with practical resources and information on how to get their business started.

Research Director Doctor Rebecca Huntley says it provides a range of support, as well as networking opportunities accessible to regional women.

“There are rural and regional women doing incredible things, many of them are thinking of alternative sources of income, and the great thing about the ‘Enterprising Me’ program is a lot of it is really online, Dr Huntley says.

“Through the networking platform you might actually discover women in your area that you might not normally know about who you can connect with as well.”
