Local water lovers and boaties are being encouraged to brush up on safety precautions as the season for recreation gets underway.
In the past year, Marine Safety Officers have inspected more than 3,000 vessels at boat ramps and on water across SA and found a sea of non-compliance.
Officers handed out 464 high level safety cautions, along with more than 280 expiation notices, and have stopped 343 people from launching.

Vessel owners need to be across ocean and river rules, comply with speed limits and should keep safety equipment and lifejackets serviced and up to date.
