More than 8,500 cruise ship passengers and crew are expected to pass through Port Lincoln this weekend as the 2023/24 season gets underway.
This season, nine ships will anchor off the coast, with the first arriving on Saturday, 16 December.
Economic and Tourism Development Officer Dylan Swincer says it’s great for the local economy.
“It’s a great opportunity for the community and locals to be able to really show off our beautiful town that we have, especially those in the hospitality and retail sectors,” he says.
Last year’s season injected $16.7 million into the local economy, and it’s hoped this season will be just as successful.
“Operating between December through to March, during that time we’ll see over 28,000 passengers and crew throughout our town, which is a great opportunity to explore Port Lincoln in a day trip, go out and check out the local businesses, and be able to jump on different tours.”
The Majestic Princess docks on Saturday, followed by the Grand Princess on Sunday.
