More Housing Coming For The Steel City

The State Government is inviting Expressions of Interest to develop two parcels of land on Kloeden Reserve in Whyalla.

State Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Nick Champion, made the announcement while in Whyalla on Monday.

With major projects like the hydrogen power facility and the Northern Water Project underway, Mr Champion emphasized the urgent need for housing to support a growing workforce.

He says up to 70 houses could be built in the area, providing secure housing for teachers, tradies and healthcare professionals.

The first site, a 1.7-hectare parcel, is expected to yield up to 30 allotments, with at least 10 houses to be built immediately and leased back to the government for a minimum of 10 years.

The second site, a 2.5-hectare corner lot, could accommodate around 40 residential properties, with possibilities for recreational or community facilities.

The Expressions of Interest process will open soon and close in late November.
