The digital enrolment form will allow parents and carers of students to identify themselves as a current or former member of the Australian Defence Force, making it easier for schools to identify and provide additional local support, as well as refer them to Commonwealth Government services.

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs Education Schemes will make things such as student support services, financial assistance, guidance and counselling more accessible.

The State Government introduced this change following advocacy from Defence Kidz, Resolute Ready, and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Geoff Brock, who sought to ensure that defence families are provided with the unique support systems they require.

The updated digital enrolment form will be introduced in schools from term one next year as part of the department’s Education Management System rollout.
