Plans for the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex are open for public consultation.
Space exploration company Southern Launch are seeking community feedback under direction of the Federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
Southern Launch communications and engagement manager Amy Featherston says they’re doing consultations on matters that fall under the Federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.
“That’s the listed and threatened species, the listed migratory species, and the Commonwealth marine areas, Ms Featherston says.
“It’s specifically about how we’re going to ensure the Southern Emu-wren, the Mallee whipbird and the whales are going to be protected when we hopefully build the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex.”
Submissions will be accepted until 2 February, and can be made via email to whalersway@southernlaunch.space.
