Qantas has announced increased services at Whyalla Airport following Rex Airline’s exit announcement two weeks ago.
From July 1st, Qantas will add eight additional weekly flights to its Adelaide to Whyalla route, aiming to fill the void left by Rex Airlines.
The flights will operate on Monday morning, Thursday evening, Friday evening, and Saturday morning.
Whyalla Mayor Phill Stone has thanked Qantas for increasing its level of service, saying the additional flights are crucial for the city’s industrial and economic boom.
Mayor Stone also highlighted discussions with the federal government to develop the airport further, with an anticipated increase in passenger traffic due to the upcoming $2 billion hydrogen precinct development.
