New survey results from the Institute of Public Affairs highlights the importance Australians place on regional and rural industries, sparking calls for our leaders to refocus on policies that ‘back the bush’.
Of those surveyed, 70 per cent believe the mining and resource sector is critical to our nation’s future, and 68 per cent believe our farmers, food producers and miners are under-appreciated.
This comes after South Australia’s first Bush Summit, where Premier Peter Malinauskas said the city relies on the regions.
Deputy Executive Director at the Institute of Public Affairs Daniel Wild says our regional communities and industries play a critical role, but are being held back by red tape and regulation.
