A state-wide traffic operation is being conducted by South Australia Police this week as children return to school.
Operation Return to School will see a two-day road safety operation on Monday and Tuesday (24-25 July) to monitor the safety of children and pedestrians as traffic volume increases during drop-off and pick-up times.
Children are at risk in these environments because they are less visible to drivers, their active behaviour is less predictable than adults, and they may have errors of judgement when dealing with traffic.
Police officers will be seen on foot, and Mobile driver testing is also expected throughout the operation.
Superintendent Darren Fielke says police will target drivers who speed, fail to belt-up, take illicit drugs before driving or make poor decisions putting others at risk.
