Whyalla Steelworks has recently resumed production after a four month shutdown.
The shutdown was caused by various operational challenges and extensive repairs to the facility.
Member for Giles’ Eddie Hughes said that major contractors were now returning to work on the site, which marks a significant milestone in the effort to rescue the plant.

However, there are still concerns for its future, with parent company GFG Alliance still owing a significant amount of royalties to the South Australian government.
The state government are undertaking contingency planning in case the plant becomes insolvent.
